Boosting Bryophytes: a new electronic flora for Australian Bryophytes and taxonomic governance in the National Species List.

Peri E. Bolton1, Anne Fuchs2, Anthony Whalen1

This presentation outlines the results of a preliminary molecular study of Australian Hypnodendron vitiense, a moss species with a wide geographic distribution in Malesia and Oceania. The current circumscription of the species based on morphological characters does not agree with the molecular evidence, and geographically distinct lineages appear to be present. Wide-ranging morphological and molecular investigations are suggested to unravel the nature of these lineages.
